Streeterville, Ill., is a small community located just 10 minutes north of Chicago on the coast of Lake Michigan. The community is nestled between the Chicago River, North Rush Street, East Lake Shore Drive, and Lake Michigan. Streeterville is considered a northern suburb of Chicago, known for its progressive values and unique architecture. The area’s history remains a big part of the community, too. Streeterville’s roots can be traced to the mid-1860s, when a group of Chicago entrepreneurs, including James C. Eddy and John D. Ryan, purchased a site on the shore of Lake Michigan and began selling lots for residential development. The entrepreneurs sold around 100 lots in a row, and by 1869, the street was lined with two-story frame houses. Streeterville's real estate is still known for its large, beautiful homes and distinctive architecture.
